Intermediate pottery wheel throwing course
This 5 week intensive course (5 lessons of 3 hours) will focus on skills and techniques to scale up your work. Techniques to be taught include throwing larger pottery, throwing multiple parts and connecting forms. Forms to be thrown include: pitchers, moon jars, storage jars, flower pots, lidded vessels, bowls and platters. Other techniques included in the course consist of spiral wedging, making and assembling handles and surface techniques, such as sgraffito and slipdecoration. In the whole process you will be guided by Jessica with pleasure and personal attention. During the last lesson we will teach you how to glaze your own work after which Atelier van de Ven takes care of firing your creations.

PS In the studio there is a separate wheel with a griffin grip for easy trimming your work, a clay-extruder for making handles, a spray-booth, many tools, different clays and 8 glazes to choose from to finish your work

- Date: Friday-morning September 19th and 26th, October 3th, 10th and 17th

- Price: € 250,- (materials and drinks included)
- Additional costs: Firing clay € 10,- per kg to be paid afterwards in the atelier

- Catch up: Please make sure that you block all the dates! Catch up on lessons only in highly exceptional occasions and if room with another course (no guarantees though)
- Cancellation policy: You can cancel two weeks prior to the beginning of the course (afterwards no refund). Atelier Van de Ven reserves the right to cancel the course in case of insufficient bookings (minimum of 3 participants)
What to bring:
- Comfortable clothes that can get dirty (we provide lab coats)
- Short nails are absolutely required for a better result
- Remove jewelry, rings, watches, or long necklaces to avoid damage
- Long hair in a bun
